• DIRTBAGS IN SETTLEMENT TANKS
There is an obvious flaw with using a settlement tank as a sediment control system as the whole process is
reliant on flow rates and settlement times.
Used in the correct manner, the settlement tank can be fairly effective providing that the user knows the
flow rate at which he is pumping through the tank and the amount of sediment control he needs to achieve.
In reality the user is not normally aware of this information and therefore is never certain of how effective
the settlement tank is.
However, one or two of our customers overcame this problem by inserting a Dirtbag inside a settlement tank as
shown in the image below.

This means that the end user can now control the outflow of water from the settlement tank whilst still using
the efficiency of a Dirtbag.
However, the Dirtbags weren't designed for this purpose and removing the Dirtbag from a settlement tank can
be extremely tricky.
